Unity 2D Hospital Management Serious Game from The Logistics Institute Asia Pacific,  NUS designed to teach students from the medical field about hospital management and critical thinking through decision-making. I was an intern Game Programmer tasked with QA Testing, bug fixing, improving the flow of the game through improvements to UI and Gameplay coherence and addition of several new gameplay mechanics to reinforce the difficulty of managing a hospital during a pandemic, while synergizing it with other gameplay mechanics.

Responsibilities:

  1.  General Bug Fixing
  2. Profiled and optimized the game from inconsistent framerates to stable performance
  3. Improving the flow of the game through improvements to UI and Gameplay coherence through added gameplay feedback such as audio ques and added texts to relevant areas.
  4. Addition of several new gameplay mechanics to reinforce the difficulty of managing a hospital during a pandemic, while synergizing it with other gameplay mechanics.
  5. QA Testing
  6. Supervision of a game session with medical students from NUS.

Challenges

  1. Previous scripts had little to no documentation on its purpose nor annotations, causing confusion especially when relating to cut or unused content
  2. Previous script used new and different techniques or methods that were taught in school. Got around it by reading the API and official Unity documentation and doing research.
